Arts Focused School, Clubs & Activities
The Sumner is an Arts-focused school ... We foster a fun and enjoyable learning environment while encouraging the enjoyment of the arts. All students receive at least 2 art forms during the week, such as drama, music and visual arts. Additionally, we utilize partnerships to provide opportunities for students to learn about and participate in arts-related activities.
4th & 5th Grade, Clubs & Activities
The Sumner offers opportunities for students to customize their educational experience ... We provide students with the ability to explore their interests and develop their curiosity by offering a variety of clubs and activities, or electives, to 4th and 5th graders. By engaging students in this way, we support attendance thru fostering an enjoyable and fun learning environment that meets their individual needs.
These electives occur during the academic day every Friday immediately following lunch. At the beginning of the school year students pick their top 5 elective choices and three of these are scheduled over the year in trimesters. The ultimate goal is to have all students participate in their top three choices over the school year.
