Sumner Chosen to Receive Coats for Kids Who Need Them

We are so happy that we will be able to help many children that might need or benefit from the use of a new coat. Coats come from Operation Warm who partnered with Reebok Foundation to provide coats for schools that are running BOKS at the Before School Program.

Hello Teachers and Sumner Community!
We know the lack of a quality winter jacket is a large barrier to physical activity for many students in Boston. Operation Warm, whose mission is to “counter one of the most unfathomable hardship of childhood poverty; the lack of adequate winter clothing,” has partnered with the Reebok Foundation to provide winter coats to up to 60 BOKS students at BPS elementary/K-8 schools.

To be eligible to apply for the grant, the BPS had to be a title one school and not have the proper space or gym to play and have BOKS running in the building. Only five schools from Boston were going to be chosen and the Sumner was one of them.

We are so happy that we will be able to help many children that might need or benefit from the use of a new coat. I still have some left that I will like to give to those in need. I have sizes: 5/6,7/8 boys and girls.  Coats come from Operation Warm who partnered with Reebok Foundation to provide coats for schools that are running BOKS at the Before School Program.

I have started to give them away to the Before School families, but I also want to share with other children other then the Before and KI/K2 After School. Teachers, if you have a student in your class that might need one, let me know.

Thank you
